Kinawley 0-15 Ederney 1-13
In a game that had it all – excitement, controversy, brilliant score-taking, outstanding defending – it all came down to Luke Harron’s point at the very death to seal Ederney’s passage into the semi-final of the Mannok Senior Football Championship.
It is a result that may have surprised many outside the north Fermanagh club but they were full value for their win.
Despite trailing by seven points at half-time, Ederney scuppered four clear-cut goal chances in the opening half.
And while it took some fortune for them to get on to level terms with a controversial penalty, they dug deep and found a way through to set up a semi-final against Enniskillen Gaels.
It looked ominous for Ederney as Kinawley opened up a five-point lead after 20 minutes while Ederney were faltering in front of goal.
With a strong breeze on their back, Kinawley opened their account after five minutes through a Tomás Corrigan free.
He repeated the trick a minute later as Ederney’s kick out was coming under pressure.

Ederney’s first goal chance came after 13 minutes as good works down the right got Calvin Brown in but his fisted pass across goal eluded the touch needed to find the net and Kinawley cleared.

Ederney had another sight at goal as they broke at pace after Tom Keenan was turned over. The ball ended up with Shea Deazley whose shot on the turned was blocked by Doherty and in a melee of players after the rebound another shot was picked up by Doherty.
Kinawley were able to clear and they moved it at pace and Liam Owens played in Boyle and his goal-bound shot was blocked over the bar by Manus Maguire.
And Deazley had another goal chance as Pól McKervey was played in by Eoin McKervey and he played it to Deazley’s shot was blocked on the line.
Kinawley had the last say of the half as Paul Breen stroked over a ’45 to leave it 0-08 to 0-01.
Ederney started the second-half well and hit two early points through Shaun McCarron and a Chris Snow free.
But they were guilty of some poor decision-making and passing to let Kinawley capitalise.
The first instance saw Ruairi Corrigan being fouled and the Borus were awarded a penalty but Sean McManus drilled his effort over the bar.
Then Tomás Corrigan converted to make it 0-10 to 0-03 with 20 minutes to play.
Over the next 20 minutes, Ederney outscored Kinawley by five points to one to leave a three between the sides as injury-time approached.

Caolan Brennan hit a fine score after a good dispossession from Niall Bogue set Kinawley on the attack.
Pól McKervey and Paul McCusker converted frees as Ederney rallied to stay in the game and it was followed by a Brown point to leave it 0-11 to 0-08.

It fell to Deazley who appeared to be pushed over the sideline and after a discussion with his umpire, referee James Lewis signalled for a penalty which Snow dispatched to send the game into extra-time.
Extra-time saw little between the sides.
McGrath put Ederney ahead as he shot towards an empty Kinawley goal following another turnover but Tomás Corrigan responded with a brilliant score against the wind.
Donnacha Morris fisted over for Kinawley while a speculative attempt by Paul McCusker bounced over the bar to leave it all square at the end of the first period of extra-time.
With the wind in the second period, Kinawley moved ahead through Brennan and a Tomás Corrigan sideline score following a poor Ederney kick out.
But Ederney came back through a Paul McCusker point and Pól McKervey free to set up a grandstand finish.
And it was Ederney who were celebrating as Luke Harron found the space to fire over the winner with his left foot.
