Enniskillen Gaels manager, Simon Bradley, was an interested spectator as Ederney pulled off a miraculous comeback in Kinawley last Sunday afternoon.
It was a victory that few outside the Ederney camp may have predicted but it was one on the day that could not be taken away from Ederney who could have been in a much better position had they not butchered the several goal chances they had throughout the game.
But they did it in the end and their prize for doing so was to set up a tie against Bradley's Enniskillen side.
The Gaels are favourites for the Senior Championship and have already a Division One league title in the bag.
But they would have been seen as championship contenders last season only to come unstuck against Erne Gaels in the last four.
Bradley and his side are well aware of this and he admits they will be using that loss as motivation.
"We are in the same place we were in last year going into the semi-final probably as favourites," he said.
"That defeat is quite raw with us still. It is something that we intend to learn from and to use as motivation to make sure we can try and get into the final this year."
The Gaels are the only team in the Senior Championship to win all of their group games.
But it has not been a smooth journey. In all games they have shown the quality they possess but there have been times when they let the opposition back into games.
"Last year we performed very well in the group stages. This year we haven't been at our best and we are quite aware of that, the players are quite aware of that so we are just hoping in the next game we do perform somewhere close to our ability and trust that will be enough to see us over the line."
Bradley got a good look at Ederney last weekend and he knows the first thing his side will need to match is the north Fermanagh club's desire.
"I think the first thing you have to do is you have to match their intensity and their sheer desire to win. That was very evident [against Kinawley].
"I thought that their experienced players played very, very well - Chris Snow, the two McCuskers (Declan and Paul0 and Marty McGrath.
Between those four players they probably have more experience than our entire team. And I thought they really stood up at key moments."
Marty McGrath was the catalyst for Ederney's fight back hitting three important scores.
Having only made an appearance in the latter stages of the group, he has shown his quality since his return.
Bradley is well aware of the former All Star's threat: "Marty deserves and will get all sorts of respect from any team he plays against and that will include us and he will be a handful no doubt about that."
Despite Ederney's threats, Enniskillen will go into the game as clear favourites.
It is a tag that they get for most of their games and while Bradley admitted they squad have spoken about the pressure that comes with it, he also knows and has seen recently that anything can happen in knockout football.
"We've talked about this because most of the games we go into we are favourites so you have to get to a stage where you are comfortable with the favourites tag and that is something that we've been working on.
"It's championship football. The betting goes out the window as far as I'm concerned. It’s knockout football as has been proved in this county and games across the country reputations and favourites tags count for nothing. You have to perform."
