Ederney will have little time to dwell on their heroics in Kinawley last Sunday as they prepare for an even bigger task against Enniskillen Gaels this weekend.

That was reward for their outrageous comeback win over the Borus but it is what it is and for manager Chris Kelly and Co. it is a game they will attack with all they have.

But to reach those levels of performance Kelly admitted some hard truths had to be heard.

"The game against Derrygonnelly in Ederney that day, it wasn’t good enough," he explained.

"I can't put my finger on why. It was a very flat performance. It wasn’t like us, it was passive.

"It hurt the boys, it hurt us all as a group because there is far more in us, especially at your home ground. It wasn’t good enough.

"In fairness to the boys we asked for a reaction and we have got that in spades," he said as they bounced back with an impressive win over Devenish to book their quarter-final spot against Kinawley.

"That never-say-die attitude was the most pleasing thing in those two games.

"We are back up at the level we expect in terms of effort intensity and work rate."

And they will have to bring it all again and probably more if they are to overcome the competition favourites.

"It doesn’t come any tougher than that now.

"It's going to be a serious, serious step up. They have been the best team in Fermanagh we have played. They won the league. They are a star-studded team and a team that is pretty much at full strength in comparison to where we are but we are there."

And Kelly said it will be the same attitude and drive from his players going into Sunday's clash as it was for Kinawley: "We will focus our attention and give it everything we have. The boys won't be found wanting for effort.

"It will be down to us to do our homework to see what we can do to hurt them, what we can do to stop them but that is easier said than done but we will be ready."

One aspect of play where Kelly will be hoping to see an improvement will be converting goal chances.

Ederney scuppered at least four in the first-half and the manager knows that they will need to take their chances to have a hope of causing another upset: "There are things we can do to bring the game to Enniskillen and hurt them and we know that but if we do we need to take our chances.

And he added that while the chances were not taken against Kinawley it should give his players confidence that they were creating them.

"Hopefully we make those chances and we back the boys to take them this weekend."
