Orchard Farm 2-2 Enniskillen Athletic
Orchard Farm and Enniskillen Athletic shared the spoils in Fivemiletown on Saturday as the away side came from a goal down to take the lead before a late equaliser saw the teams both pick up a point.
The sides were both searching for a second league win of the season and the hosts made the breakthrough as Brian McDermott but Athletic fought back through Niall Fee and Luke Flanagan.
However, a Tiarnan Elliot free-kick in the final play of the game rescued a point for Farm in the end at the King George Pitches.
“I thought a draw was a fair result in the end,” said Orchard Farm boss Shane O’Donnell looking back on the game.
“Both sides had chances throughout the game and we managed to get a goal to level it right at the very end to save a point.
"It was an entertaining game and both teams played decent football at times but we will take a point and move on to the next one now.”
Enniskillen were strengthened by the return of Luke Flanagan, Colm and Rian McNally, Conor Burns and James Maguire to the starting line-up while Niall Cosgrove made his first start of the season for Orchard Farm.
The two teams had spells in possession at the start of the game but it took until just after the half-hour mark for the game’s first goal.
Winger Gavin Kee was played down the right-hand side of the pitch and he lifted his head to see McDermott and found him with a precise pass and the forward finished into the bottom corner for 1-0.
McDermott also hit the crossbar with a header while Mark Irvine also had two efforts that just cleared the crossbar with goalkeeper James Maguire making a couple of saves for Athletic.
Luke Flanagan and Emmet Cassidy both threatened at the other end but their equaliser came with just 15 minutes to go as a ball played down the centre of the mark was latched onto by Niall Fee who buried it into the net.
Flanagan then put Athletic ahead just a few minutes later as jumped in between both Farm centre halves to glance home a header for 2-1.
A free-kick, from Tiarnan Elliot, was whipped into the top corner for the final play of the game with the referee’s whistle coming straight after to see the side’s finish the game at 2-2.
Athletic face Magheraveely at home next, meanwhile, Orchard Farm travel to play Ballinamallard Reserves.
“That will be a tough game for us,” O’Donnell added.
"They had a big win over Lisnaskea Rovers at the weekend and have scored a lot of goals so we will have to be ready for them if we want to take something from the game.”
