Lisnaskea Rovers 0-5 Orchard Farm
Halloween came late for Lisnaskea Rovers as four ex-players returned to haunt their former side in a 5-0 win for Orchard Farm at the weekend.
Goals from Brian McDermott, Seamie Quigley, Johnny O’Reilly and Jimmy Tormey all followed Tiarnan Elliot’s opener at Castle Park.
Manager Shane O’Donnell was pleased to watch his side take three points against his former team.
“The boys were very good, I have to say,” O’Donnell said, as he also praised Farm debutant O’Reilly.
“That was the strongest team we’ve had had out all year if you look at it on paper. If you had a full squad like that every week, you’d be very happy.
"Johnny O’Reilly played very well, he just dominated in midfield, alongside Tiarnan Elliot, Scott Armstrong and Niall Cosgrove.
"Aidan Breen also had a very good game in defence.”
Farm started on the front foot and had a number of chances to open the lead but were denied by a couple of key saves from the home side’s goalkeeper.
However, the travelling side then did get off the mark as Tormey found Elliot with a neat pass and the latter rolled in a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner of the net for 1-0.
Rovers came close to opening their account when Eimhin Curran got a shot off but it was saved by goalkeeper Michael McGrath.
Farm doubled their advantage shortly before halftime when a long ball from right-back Robert Smith was spilt by the goalkeeper and McDermott latched onto the ball and tapped home from close range.
Another long ball led to Farm’s third goal as McGrath launched a kick at the Lisnaskea defence and they failed to clear, allowing Quigley time and space to finish with a shot just inside the box.
McGrath was called into making a couple of stops as Rovers looked for a route back into the contest, however, Farm found a fourth goal when Scott Armstrong delivered a corner into the danger area and Johnny O’Reilly rose to head home goal number four.
The scoring was finished off with a few minutes to go as Tormey dispossessed a Rovers defender coming out of defence, and with the goalkeeper out of his net, Tormey powered in another effort to get his name on the scoresheet.
Lisnaskea have the upcoming weekend off while Farm face Mountfield on Saturday. “That will be a tough one,” O’Donnell added.
“They have been going well and will have all their players back. We have four players unavailable for that game already, so, we’ll have to be at it from the start if we want to get a result.”
