Three talented swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club competed at the Ulster Short Course Championships held over the weekend at Lagan Valley Leisureplex.

With 26 clubs and over 235 swimmers in attendance, the Lakelanders were eager to test their skills among the province’s best.

Ellie Dunlop (15) qualified for finals in each of her events, winning an overall bronze in the 100m breaststroke and securing the title of Ulster Junior Champion with a gold medal.

She also placed fourth in the 200m breaststroke, earning another gold for the Ulster Junior Champion title.

Competing in the 100m and 200m IM, Ellie achieved top ten finishes and now looks forward to the Irish National Winter Championships in Dublin this December.

Hannah Lynch (15) achieved personal bests across her four events, earning second overall and the title of Ulster Junior Champion in both the 400m and 800m freestyle.

She also placed fourth in the 200m backstroke and secured a remarkable 39-second personal best in her final event, taking the Ulster Champion and Ulster Junior Champion titles and the Keith Buchanan Cup.

Hannah has qualified for the Irish National Short Course Championships in all her events.

Kate McDade (16) demonstrated remarkable skill, achieving personal bests and qualifying for six finals over three days while competing against older, experienced athletes, including Olympians.

She proudly took home silver and bronze medals in the 50m and 200m breaststroke events and placed within the top five in the 100m IM, 200m IM, and 100m freestyle.

Kate now holds five qualifying times for the Irish National Short Course Championships in December.

Despite her achievements, the anticipated closure of the Forum swimming pool casts uncertainty over her training opportunities.

The Lakelanders extend their thanks to Head Coach Ben Wiffen for his dedication and to the parent volunteers who supported the team across the event.
