Fermanagh native Ellie McCartney has been picked to represent Ireland at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships.
She will make the trip to Budapest, Hungary, for the first time alongside some of Ireland’s top stars in the sport.
McCartney, who competes with the National Centre Limerick club, will represent her country with fellow 2024 European Championships Finalists Evan Bailey, Jack Cassin, Eoin Corby, Nathan Wiffen, Lottie Cullen and John Shortt at the tournament which takes place between December 10-15.
McCartney had an impressive summer at the Irish Summer Youth and Senior Championships where she won gold medals in all three of her events including the 100m Breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley and the team event 4x100m Mixed Medley Relay.
On the release of this year's World Aquatics Championships team, Jon Rudd, Swim Ireland’s National Performance Director said: “Irish swimming is in great shape, brimming with confidence and this is a very exciting group of athletes to take into a Championships such as this as we build towards the 50m-pool version of the event in Singapore next summer.”
