Orchard Farm 1-2 Lisnaskea Rovers
Lisnaskea Rovers picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Orchard Farm, just four weeks after being beaten 5-0 by the same side.
Four former Skea players hit goals in that game but a rejuvenated Rovers team hit early goals through Jason Flanagan and LaShawun Lombard to take all three points this time around.
Orchard Farm manager Shane O’Donnell said his former side deserved the win: “We had a brutal first 30 minutes. Skea were up for it, they were hungrier and had a strong team out.
"They were a far better team in the first 30 minutes and then we got back into it with a great goal.
"We pretty much dominated in possession after that, but we just couldn’t get the goal.
"We had chances but none of them were going in which was disappointing as we had so much of the ball, but you have to give credit to Skea, they deserved to win it.”
Rovers had their tails up early after Hayden Lynch went on a mazy run before being taken down in the box with five minutes gone. Flanagan converted the spot kick to make it 1-0.
Farm were struggling to deal with their opponent's early intensity as Rovers just kept coming forward.
The second goal came just after 20 minutes, another well-worked attack down the left wing saw Niall Keenan find space to lift his head and thread a pass across the box for Lombard to run onto and place into the net for 2-0.
Farm hit their opponents against the run of play, just a few minutes later, Brian McDermott picked the ball up, 30 yards from goal, and crashed home a rocket into the top corner for another goal against his former teammates.
Orchard Farm then got a foothold in the game and saw more of the ball for the remainder of the contest.
Jimmy Tormey had a shot blocked on the line, Niall Cosgrove rounded goalkeeper Aidan Keenan late on but dragged his side wide.
McDermott also watched a handful of chances sail off target and Tiarnan Elliot’s free-kick dipped over the crossbar.
“If you don’t put your chances away, you’re not going to get anything from the game,” added O’Donnell.
“We have Newtownstewart up next. We will get a chance to watch them against Ballinamallard and hopefully, we can put in a big performance but it will be a tough game.”
